About Sharyn Skeeter
I was fiction, poetry, book review editor at Essence in the early years, then editor in chief at Black Elegance (BE). While I was at BE, I was a judge on Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, and Star Search. I’ve taught English, journalism, and media at colleges and universities, most recently at the University of Bridgeport, Gateway Community College, and Fairfield University.
My articles, poetry, and fiction have been published in anthologies, magazines, and literary journals. A few of them are Fiction, Callaloo, Poet Lore (forthcoming), Re-Markings (forthcoming), Essence, Black Elegance, Black Enterprise, Connecticut River Review, Pearl Magazine, In Search of Color Everywhere (ed. E. Ethelbert Miller), and Charles Johnson: Embracing the World (eds. Nibir Ghosh, E. Ethelbert Miller).
Besides writing, I like to read everything, listen to music, travel, do crafts (needlework, beading) and photography, and be curious and interested in what happens in the world.
